Open Quay: Call Out

A new ‘open studio’ weekend for North Shields, 26–27 September 2026

This September, creative doors across North Shields will open for a brand-new celebration of art and making.

As an artist / maker / creative, Open Quay is your opportunity to invite visitors into your studio or creative space and to share what really happens behind the scenes. Be part of the first ever Open Quay and help shape a new cultural highlight for the area.

Who can take part?

If you’re creating in North Shields, we want to hear from you. We’re inviting expressions of interest from: Artists • Designers • Musicians • Writers • Dancers • Photographers • Performers • Creative venues • Studio holders • Architects • Makers of all kinds

Why get involved?

  • Showcase your work to audiences from North Shields and beyond

  • Promote and sell your work, or raise your profile

  • Connect with fellow creatives and build new collaborations

  • Featured promotion via a printed trail map, NSCQ website and social media

What could I do?

It’s completely up to you, make it as simple or as ambitious as you like. You might:

  • Simply open your studio for visitors to explore, see you at work and chat

  • Offer a demonstration or workshop (for free)

  • Host a pop-up exhibition

  • Sell your work

  • Share your creative process

Do I have to open both days? No, you can choose to take part in one or both days. Just save the dates for now!

I have no fixed space (or prefer not to open your space)?
You can still be involved. There will be opportunities to exhibit in curated window spaces or take a table at the North Tyneside Business Centre
