Community Procession - North Shields 800

We are seeking an experienced organisation to plan, coordinate, and deliver a community carnival-style procession as part of the end-of-year celebrations in December 2025.

This event will unite communities across North Shields through multi-route processions, a shared convergence on Howard Street, and a final gathering at the Fish Quay, featuring live music and a visual spectacle. This opportunity has been made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the North of Tyne Combined Authority. Their support helps us celebrate the town’s heritage and future together.

Projection Mapping Commission - North Shields 800

As part of North Shields 800, we are commissioning a creative practitioner, digital artist or organisation to design and deliver a series of projection-mapped images and/or artwork for the December 2025 procession and finale event.

These installations will animate key sites along the procession route through the town centre and culminate with projections at the Fish Quay. They should add a sense of spectacle to the event, create moments of wonder, and highlight the town’s creativity in a memorable and accessible way.

Community Engagement Artist - North Shields 800

This commission gives communities a chance to contribute directly to the December finale procession and celebration through creative making and participation.

This call for a creative practitioner with experience of working with community groups aims to help communities create a shared visual identity for the event - something that celebrates North Shields' history, diversity, and creativity. While we anticipate that flags may play a role in this work, we welcome proposals that suggest other accessible, striking, and community-led approaches to visual expression.
